Child friendly holiday park in the woods
Camping in the middle of the countryside, for some people that is the ultimate relaxation. That’s possible at EuroParcs De Wiltzangh in Ruinen! The whole family can enjoy themselves in the swimming pool, at the petting zoo or on the minigolf course at this holiday park. You will be spending your holiday on the edge of the Dwingelderveld National Park, and that means lovely walks and cycle trips through the nature reserve full of woods, heathland and marshes. There are plenty of other lovely trips out in the area, such as Slagharen of Plopsa Indoor. But don’t let the children hear that!
Start your holiday with a refreshing dip
The heated swimming pool at EuroParcs De Wiltzangh is the place where everyone can swim. And while the children are splashing around, you can relax on one of the sun loungers. A good way to keep an eye on them. Or to start on a good book!
One large playground
This holiday park in the woods offers endless ways to play. Building huts, hide and seek or going on an adventure; children can amuse themselves in the playground. Or maybe they might want to play a round of football, table tennis or minigolf. And there is always the sandpit, swings and slides. Making friends was never so easy!
Animal friends
Nature is the central theme of EuroParcs De Wiltzangh, and that is obvious. It has a petting zoo where children are allowed to stroke the goats and rabbits, and there are cute ponies. Ask at the reception if your children are allowed to help feeding the animals, they are sure to enjoy that. Tours are organised in summer to spot deer in the surrounding area, so take your binoculars and hope for the best…
Delicious schnitzels
PAll that swimming, playing and sport will give you an appetite, so go along to ‘De Oele’ restaurant. All sorts of delicious dishes are on the menu, including schnitzels, chicken and pork tenderloin. The snack bar is the place to go for a quick bite, and the campsite shop has fresh bread each morning to start the day off right.
Even more adventure
If the petting zoo on the campsite gives you a taste for more, a visit to Wildlands Adventure Zoo in Emmen is a good idea. You can go on a real safari here and meet all sorts of wild animals. If you want even more fun in the water, you should go to the outdoor swimming pool in Ruinen. At minimum of 26 degrees, this is the warmest pool in the Netherlands, so there’s no need to cautiously put one toe in the water.
Gnomes route for the youngest
The campsite organises a gnomes’ route for children from 4 to 10 years. This treasure hunt, which lasts an hour and a half, is full of educational challenges. True to fashion, you will be given a pointed hat, a beard and a rucksack. Now and again you will meet a gnome with a blue pointed hat on his head. And you guessed it: you have to complete a task. Good luck!
